Review: Car-seat family taxis to the airport *and discount code*

You know how you book a holiday, get super-excited, start planning the epic packing-list and then think.. ugh... we've got to get to the airport. With 18.2 million bags, two buggies, a baby, maybe also a toddler, older kids, sleepy parents... etc? We faced just this dilemma on an autumn trip to the Algarve - we didn't want to schlep a car seat all the way to Portugal just for the airport bit, we didn't want to plonk our kids on our lap and hope for the best in an Uber, we couldn't drive there as we were returning to a different airport...

But luckily a friend recommended Family Transfers, a taxi business that specialises in getting families to and from the airport - their motto is "so that you can relax from the moment you leave your house" and since it all went so smoothly, I wanted to tell you all about them - and share a discount code for your next family airport transfer.

The gist: it was really easy to book - you can do so online at familytransfers.com or email info@familytransfers.com. Then you're emailed details of your driver and his/her phone number. Then we found a smiling, smart driver called Jorge waiting patiently for us at Luton (they cover most UK airports, see below), not minding at all that our flight had landed late or that it was almost one in the morning, or that there was heavy fog - all things that we'd normally find stressful.
He paid for the parking and led us to his huge car- Family Transfers only use really big vehicles (VW Transporters or Mercedes Viano, with 7 and 8 seats respectively), so you don't need to worry about a Prius turning up and not being able to fit your six billion babygrows on board - then opening the door we found two totally clean, well-fitted car seats, rear-facing for the baby, straps open and ready to be adjusted, front-facing for the toddler, again all ready for him to sit in and snooze all the way back.
Jorge packed all our luggage into the back, we sat down... and basically snoozed all the way home, when he helped us bring everything in, so we could get the kids into their cots and... relax. Coming home from a sunny break into a cold, foggy October evening is never going to be fun, especially with a flight in the early hours of the day - but Family Transfers made it so easy that I'd really recommend them for any impending airport-runs with the family.

DISCOUNT CODE: for journeys from 15 December 2017 to 15 March 2018 (except for 25, 26 December 2017 and 1 January 2018) receive a 10% discount with promotion code RUN10 - use when booking either online or via email.

Some extra details:

* Prices are set for each journey, but as an example, Heathrow to an NW postcode is from £80, or a family of 3 from NW to Gatwick is around £95.

* Two car seats are included in the rates, you pay extra for more.

* They currently cover Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton, City, Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Edinburgh airports plus some train stations and ports - more details here

* They're also starting to offer transfers at airports in France, Spain, Portugal and Italy so it's worth getting in touch if you're travelling there.

* ROOW reviewed one airport leg with Family Transfers but rest assured, we're seriously gobby and only rave about things we love.
